Wednesday morning

Good morning everyone. We continue to get some good news. The CT scan showed the swelling is reducing and this shows itself by pupil response and more pain response in all limbs. The body scan did show a blood clot in the lung area which explained the high heart rate and increasing white blood cell count. Her body is fighting to eliminate that clot. To prevent further life threatening clots they cannot give her blood thinners but are right now installing a filter inside her leg veins to prevent clots from travelling to her heart. There are no other clots at present in her body. There is now enough room in Shawnas brain to accomodate increased blood flow so the Drs. have scheduled Shawnas abdominal closure for this afternoon. This is still a very complicated proceedure as they have to ensure there are no holes in her digestive tract and when they close the ab muscles they have to ensure there is minimal pressure to the brain. The doctors will also give Shawna a feeding tube and tracheotomy to minimize her discomfort from feeding line and ventilation in the future. God bless the work of the surgeons. We continue to wait in faith that he give us all things for his reason. Thank you once again for your messages of comfort on this blog. It is a great source of comfort and strength. God bless you all. Al and Deb.

Ps. We'll post again after the operation. Enjoy your snow day( at least those in southern Ontario)

Al and Deb,
As you take another step in this journey with Shawna....We continue to pray, especially over the hands of the Dr's this afternoon, And we are praying for peace for you all, as well as strength and MUCH courage and patience as you wait for the Dr's to come to tell you how things have gone, and we thank God for all HE has done thus far...Each new day is a BLESSING!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is NEAR. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4: 4-7

Dear Al, Deb, Darryl, and family:

What a blessing it is to continue to receive good news. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! We rejoice with you and continue to hold each of you before God's throne in prayer. We will do so again this afternoon, asking that he will grant his blessing on the surgery that Shawna will undergo. We will also ask that he carries you through this anxious time.

"Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall."
Psalm 55:22

Dear Al and Deb and family, Darryl and family,
We know that God is in control of the doctors hands and He will continue to watch over Shawna. We are still praying for a miracle! In the meantime, may you receive all the strength and courage you need to deal with the conflicting emotions facing you. We also pray that you can still see the sunshine through the rain and enjoy the blessings that God is giving you. Every time I read "good news" my heart jumps. As you see Shawna's condition progress, you can praise God for His mercy. We pray that you will also have a joyful day on Saturday, celebrating Rebecca and Shawns wedding.
"Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. May your deeds be shown to your servants, your slendor to their children." Psalm 90:14-16

Dear Al and Deb and family and Darryl,

You are in my thoughts and prayers this afternoon as Shawna undergoes surgery. May God hold her near and guide the hands of the doctors. We keep praying for small signs of improvement and God is granting our requests. Heather too asks her teacher to pray for Shawna everyday. The kids also look at Shawna in your family picture that's on the fridge everyday and say that's the girl we're praying for right Mom? What a blessing to have the communion of saints (around the world) praying for Shawna, and you all.
Love you. Erica

Al and Deb, family and friends of Shawna,
You continue to be in our family's prayers every day. Thank you so much for updating us every day. It helps us to know what to pray for.
Today we will pray for the doctors that the surgery may go well, and for all of you that you may continue to lean on the Lord in these difficult and stressful times.
It is so encouraging for us to see your obvious trust in Him, and to see that there are so many all over the world praying for a miracle for Shawna, and strength for you.
We will continue to pray for Shawna to be restored to you in good health and for patience for all of you.
Lamentations 3 (a portion)
21 "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself the Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.
25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Him.
26 It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord...
32 Though He brings grief He will show compassion. So great is His unfailing love.
33 For He does not willingly bring affliction or grief to the children of men."
