Sunday night
Hello all. We are thankful that we could go to worship with our Brs. And Srs. this morning. This puts things in perspective. Although Shawna lies in the hospital bed unable to attend service we know she has communion through the Holy Spirit with all of us. We do not have any more real positive things to report, maybe a few negative things, but we continue in Gods grace. Shawna has developed an infection possibly in her lungs(pneumonia) from lying still on her back and being unable to cough up dicharge. Surgery has been again postponed because she needs to be elevated and not flat for the operation. There has been no further degradation of vital signs and she now has her gag relex when they clean out her lungs. Again just a little positive development that was not there before. Please continue to pray for Shawna. We are very comforted by the replies to this blog and all the personal emails we have received. God bless you all. Al and Deb

Thanks for the update, we continue to pray. We are still believing in a miracle.
"But if it were I, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted."
Job 5: 8,9
God bless

May the LORD continue to grant you His strength and comfort during this difficult time. We continue to pray for Shawna's recovery the LORD willing and in His time. We are also strengthened by your many words of trust and dependence on our Lord and Saviour.

As we continue to read your updates and go through our lives, we realize that we are in God's hands. This was once again made clear to us in the sermon we had in the Toronto congregation this morning...although Jesus heals and even raises from the dead in some cases, His words to Jairus were "Don't be afraid, just believe". Whatever situation we find ourselves in, this too is Jesus' message for us today. We pray that you will continue to live in this comfort and look to Him for all that you need during this time of waiting.

Dear Mr and Mrs Bethlehem,
Ever since kindergarden, us "Attercliffe girls" stuck together, though at times it might have seemed we drifted. Through the years we've had our share of hard times and hard laughs. We're sure you remember a birthday party of Shawna's in elementary school when we were forced to stay at your house overnight due to a snowstorm. Just like that birthday party, we want you to know that we will stay with Shawna through the storms of life, no matter how difficult - not because we're forced to, but because we WANT to. Because that's what true friends are for. We feel like we're not doing enough now, but we promise we'll do everything we can once Shawna is awake and needing us most.
With love and prayer, Shawna's girl friends in Attercliffe/Dunnville
Thank-you so much for keeping us up-dated with what is going on with Shawna...it means a lot to us all. We do not know what God has planned for Shawna, or any of us, but we do know that eveything is in His hands. If He brings us to it, we can be assured that He will also bring us through it. God bless you all...love Diane and Bob

Our prayers continue to go up to the throne of our Heavenly Father that He may uphold you in His loving care and if it is His will to grant healing and recovery to your daughter Shawna. Today as we sang Psalm 121 we were again reminded that all of our help comes from the Lord the maker of Heaven and earth who never slumbers nor sleeps but will watch over our coming and going both now and forever more.

Al and Deb, Darryl and all who hold Shawna dear,
We may be strangers in name, but share the same hope that you profess. We too are following this blog and keeping you all in our prayers!
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen."

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Thank you so much for your detailed updates. These give us all specific needs to lay at God's throne. You and Shawna's medical team are all remembered daily in the continual prayers of so very many of God's children.

Thankyou very much for the daily updates. It is nice to read what's going on; and even better to read that you are staying strong for Shawna, with God right by your side.
We continue to pray for you all. Each day God will grant you the renewed strength you need to deal with what He has placed in front of you; and give you the patience to take it one day at a time.

Dear Al, Deb, Darryl and family:
As I was reading today's comments, I was reminded again, how rich we are to be part of the communion of saints. We could go to the house of the Lord again yesterday, There to adore His majesty! How His Word strengthens us and gives us all comfort. Al's Dad said last night to us " What good sermons, so uplifting and comforting" There are so many promises in God's Word that strengthens, comfort and uplift us each day. Hold on to those promises, Al and Deb! God never gives His people more then they can carry. Not because the load is not heavy, it sure is, but because when they get too heavy for us, He carries them for us. We pray that today again you may feel His presence very near. We pray for further healing for Shawna, and for the medical staff who look after her.
With love from Andy and Tina van Yken.
Thanks for all the updates Al. You guys are all in our thoughts and prayers and may the Lord continue to give you the strength to pull you all through these hard times.
God Bless,
Mike & Sue, Andrew, Angie, Jennifer, Kenny & Julie
Our prayers for Shawna are constant- may God grant healing to Shawna and strength and comfort toyou and all who love her. Keep praying and find hope in James 5:13-18. "...the prayer offered in faith will make the the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.....the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective..."
God bless you all.

Dear Al and Deb, and all Shawna's loved ones,
The Weaver
My Life is but a weaving
between the Lord and me
I cannot chose the colours
He worketh steadily.
Oft times He weaveth sorrow
and I, in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.
Not til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful
In the Weaver's skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those
Who leave the choice with Him.

When we stand in eternity looking back on this earthly existence, we will know by sight what we can only see now by faith...God makes no mistakes.
God never gives us trials in this life without also providing the sustaining grace to carry us through them. Continuing to pray for all of you, that you may continue to feel the peace that transcends all understanding.
Thankyou for taking the time to update us on the ups and downs of Shawna's and your days.

All of you are in our daily thoughts and prayers. We are so thankful that we can all look to our Heavenly Father, the Great Physician, for healing and for strength and comfort in these difficult times. We are lifting you up in prayer to the Lord that He may grant you, as Shawna's parents and family, the strength and patience you stand in need of, and also grant the doctors the wisdom they need to know how to best care for Shawna.
It is our sincere hope that Shawna may be healed and that she may one day again be singing praises to the Lord for you all to hear.

Uncle Al & Aunt Debbie,
It is nice that you could go to church Sunday; and as you said that even though Shawna couldnt go, she still has God in her heart. My parents told me about their visit to the hospital last night. I am happy that you like my messages. I hope Shawna recovers soon. All my prayers are with you and Darryl and the family.

I have a Maker, He formed my heart
Before even time began,
My life was in His hand.
He knows my name, He knows my every thought.
He sees each tear that falls, And hears me when I call.
I have a Father, He calls me His own.
He'll never leave me No matter where I go.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Love, Uncle Harry and Aunt Ina
