Monday (day 151)

Good morning all. Sorry for being a little tardy on the post, but we had couple of busy days. Shawna continues to progress under the therapists. She is getting more and more movement in her right arm, and right leg. Her left side continues to improve but seems to be a couple of months behind the development of her right side. She turns her head from side to side especially if she can't get her eyes to track and she wants to see something out of her line of vision. It still takes a lot of effort though and repetition is the best way to strenghthen the neuro connections to her muscles. We have taken the boredom of the hospital on Saturday and Sunday away by using the van to transport Shawna home for the afternoons on those days. For her it is very stimulating and for us it's a reality check on our preparedness at home. Our main rooms, kitchen, dining, living and caregiver's room have been completed with some small "honey do lists" left. Shawna's room will be getting the new flooring, and trim today and will be completely finished by this weekend. The only major thing left will be the modification to our bathroom converting it to a roll-in shower with accessible toilet and sink. Shawna(and us) will have a busy week this week with a "meet with the team" scheduled for today, an EEG for Shawna at the general tomorrow at 11.00 and a recreational outing on Wednesday. We thank our Heavenly Father for the continued blessing of good health and the continual progression of Shawna and continue to rely solely on His providential care. May you all have a blessed week and thank you for your continued prayers and support. Al and Deb

We continue praying for all of you ! It is wonderfull to read how Shawna is healing step by step and that all of you become the strength and patient to help Shawna and also to make everything ready for Shawna's homecoming. So, don't apology for one day later writing on the blog !! It is a great privilege that you gives us the updates all the time, even when you are so busy. Thank you very much for that. I don't know if Shawna remembers us but give her a big hug from the ooms and tantes + our children.

Hi You don't know me but I've been reading about Shawna and the awesome progress she is making. I am very interested because yousee our son Dan had an accident on Mother's day weekend last year. He was sitting on the tailgate of a pick up truck, fell off and hit his butt on the ashpalt and whipped his head back resulting in a broken pelvis and a closed head injury. They also removed his sckull cap to let the brain expand. He was in an induced coma for 3 weeks. He had many operations because his spinal cord fluid kept on making his head swell more. they doctors eventually put in two shunts. to help remove the fluid that the body is suppose to reabsorb on it's own but didn't with Dan because scar tissue had formed on the area where the body naturally reabsorbs it. He also went to our home hospital for recovery before heading to Hotel due shaver rehab hospital and then on to the chedoke abi program where he was from Sept to January. He is now at home still recovering. Yes the steps seem mighty slow to us but God is in control and we thank Him contiunally for His healing Hand on Dan. And as I can see trough your Blog Shawna continues to improve only through God's healing hands. Should you want to talk to someone who is going through similar situations. call me @905 768 5118 or email me @agstrobosser@yahoo.ca. Thanks the Strobossers
