Good evening all. Shawna had a very good day today. Deb practiced with Shawna last night to help her to be ready for the assesment from Chedoke today. The physio therapist came in just before the assesment to work with Shawna. She impressed them all. She moved her right leg consistently when she was in sitting position, also a little bit on her left leg. She showed a very strong right arm. The most impressive feat though was when she was sitting on the edge of the bed without a neck brace. She maintained that position unsupported for over one minute. This was a huge improvement from last week when she could only maintain that position for 5 seconds. When she sits like that her eyes are open wide in concentration. She has very strong back, leg, and abdominal muscles(even after the incision). After the assesment there was a conference in which Deb was told Shawna would be going to Chedoke mid-May depending on if other patients do not become infection free who are ahead of Shawna in line. Shawna continues to swallow small amounts of water from ice chips successfully without choking. She has also been able to make very loud noises when her throat is wet. She's been practicing that quite a bit. We pray for the day she can finally talk to us as she's been trying for some time now.
The ramp into the house and interior door widening will be started soon as a quote has been accepted. We have been again so richly blessed to be able to prepare for Shawna's eventual homecoming. God is a gracious and compassionate Father, providing for the needs of his children in his time. We remain thankful and patient as we watch His plan unfold. Thank you again for your prayers, poems and writing. They are comforting and strenthening. Yours in Christ. Al and Deb

thinking of you all and praying for you constantly!
Yah Shawna, you go girl!
Daily we pray for you and we know that God is never going to let go of you. The days have turned into weeks and now the weeks into months, but one day is like a thousand to Him and a thousand like one day. Keep hold of your faith and know that God is still working out His plan for your lives, just as He is for all of us. Let us be still and know that He is God.

Even though we've moved out of Ontario all the way across this vast country to northern BC, we continue to check Shawna's blog and keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayers. We rejoice in each bit of progress and pray you will receive daily strength and patience. God does know and provide for each one of our needs!

I read your blog every time, and what really strikes me is the day #. Now it is day 97! Looking from the outside it seems a long time but you as family members seeing the progress and the time she needs for healing it is a great blessing. You continue to be given the patience, comfort and strength from our Heavenly Father. The Great Physician is giving her time to heal even though sometimes we like things to move faster, He knows what is best for her which is so comforting and you can cling to those promises each and every day. We continue to read your blog twice a week. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to keep all of us informed on Shawna's progress. Our thoughts and prayers are with you every day and we know that our Heavenly Father continues to look out for Shawna's and all your needs.

Day 98.
Wow, God has granted Shawna much healing in this long period of time.
I would also like to wish Aunt Debbie a Happy Birthday and may God grant you many more years to come.
It's so nice to hear that Shawna is making at least a little and sometimes a lot of progress in this long period of time.
May God be with you in the days ahead.

You are constantly in our prayers. May God continue to give you the strength needed each day. He gives all of us what we need each day. To Him belong all praise.
